We took the same design principles that made our Six-Speed Overdrive one of the smoothest-shifting transmissions on the market and applied them to the BAKER N1 Shift Kit. This kit transforms any Cruise Drive 6-speed into a precision-shifting, neutral-down machine, giving you the confidence and control you need in every riding scenario.

- For all riders – The N1 Shift Pattern isn’t just for aggressive riders or stunt riders—it’s for all riders who want more control and confidence in their shifting. Whether you’re navigating traffic, staging at the drag strip, or carving through mountain roads, the N1 pattern helps eliminate accidental shifts into neutral. And when you do want neutral, the redundant neutral feature and refined ratchet pawl geometry make it easy to find—quickly, accurately, and consistently.
- Smoother, more positive shifting - Smoother, positive shifting is achieved by incorporating advanced geometry in the fork pin groves, and the integration of a linear detent bearing on the right side mounting plate.
- Reduced shift effort -Thanks to a fixed spindle drum design and reduced rotational friction, shifts are smoother and require less effort. That means better performance, especially under hard riding conditions.
- Less shift clunk - Each design improvement combines in a precise mechanical choreography that is inherently silent.
- Easy Installation – There is no need to disassemble the stock gearset from the bearing door. Just pull out the stock gearset, and swap out the stock shift drum for the BAKER N1 Shift Kit Drum. No adjustments are needed for the shift drum, direct bolt in design. Re-uses stock shifter pawl, stock pawl centering pin, shift forks and fork rods.

4-Speed N1 Shift Systems:
Eliminates the possibility of catching neutral on a 1-2 upshift. A quadriplegic could find neutral on a hand shift bike with the N1 shift pattern. We start with a solid chunk of steel, machine in all the features, then remove the unnecessary material. Two Teflon coated bushings are pressed into the drum axis bore for smooth rotation on shifts.
The N1 drum changes the shift pattern from the standard 1-N-2-3-4 to N-1-2-3-4.
