'87-'06 Fitment

Function-Formed 5-Speed Hydraulic Side Covers Are Back! We’ve officially resurrected the original Function-Formed (FF) Hydraulic Side Covers for stock 5-Speed and BAKER transmissions. The Hydraulic Side Covers was one of the first parts in the FF product line. We took away all the ‘fat’ of the standard aftermarket side cover and left the function. The true art of any mechanical part is the function. The parts that make it happen, that do the work and yield the results. We sucked the side cover up to the bearing door as much as possible by utilizing aerospace-derived hydraulic ball plugs, that enabled the bleeder screw and feed line ports to be right next to the gasket surface. We even put the conventional transmission dipstick on a diet. Precision-machined from 6061-T6 billet right here in our Haslett, Michigan, machine shop, these side covers are as strong as they are sleek.  The result is the tidiest design possible, yielding the strength necessary to get the job done, and a smooth surface finish to match.

 

Features

• Machined 6061-T6 Side Covers tuck tighter to the transmission than the stock cable-style side covers
• Compact hydraulic line routing enabling the banjo fitting to be on the front of the transmission
• Compatible with Stock H-D 5 Speeds, BAKER OD6, DD6, DD5 Transmissions or any other transmission that uses a stock equivalent mechanical cable-style side cover
• System designed to offer the same amount of adjustability at the hand control and engagement point as the stock mechanical clutch cable

Technical

• Compactly designed and packaged dipstick sneaks into the side cover assembly. Yields the standard functionality, while maintaining as small a footprint as possible
• Utilizes the stock mechanical center rod assembly. Enabling the adjustment you want at the clutch lever, as well as being compatible with all types of clutches available on the market
• Steel 1.5″ diameter piston rides on high-grade .125″ thick Buna N O-Rings. Delivers the smooth engagement throughout the stroke of the lever, as well as the durability against the transmission fluid and silicone-based brake fluid used in today’s hydraulic clutch systems
• By using 5/32″ diameter stainless steel, aerospace-derived, ball plugs in conjunction with some crafty precision machining, the fluid can be routed to the outside of the piston, while the banjo fitting remains right near the gasket surface

*The BAKER Hydraulic Side Covers will fit the 1993-2006 Touring models with the additional purchase of a Drag Specialties Engine Oil Spout Kit. Notes:

• Installation on 1993-2006  FLH/FLT models requires either the stock cast engine oil spout to be trimmed to clear the bleeder screw or installation of the Drag Specialties Engine Oil Spout Kit.
• Banjo Bolt is 3/8-24 thread (provided by customer)  bleeder screw is 1/4-28 thread (included in the kit)
• Designed to work with DOT 5 Brake Fluid
• Designed to work with the stock sized 11/16″ diameter piston clutch lever assembly or an aftermarket equivalent.
• Transmission oil level is checked with the bike on the kick stand, and threading the dipstick into the side cover.

'17-Up M8 Fitment

The Hydraulic Side Cover Kit for 2017-Later M8 models is finally here! Taking design cues from our ever increasing product family known as Function Formed, we have wrapped the outer design around the functional components found inside. No garnish, or decorations, just the meat and potatoes to make this side cover look as good as it functions.

Our newly designed 28MM piston, in conjunction with supplied mainshaft & countershaft retaining nuts, help alleviate the common fluid transfer issue between the transmission and primary.
